2 Days Until the Ascent

The first and last part of the run, I pushed both ZBoys in the double jogger.
In the middle, I ran on the track at Holmes Middle School.
Zander actually ran around the track 3 times, and Zevan went around it twice. I was happily surprised. The last few laps I ran, they sat on the bleachers, calling “Mom! Mom!” and waving. So cute!

I shaved 8 minutes off from the last time I did it – so that’s something!
And now I’m off to go camping with my family and our friends!
Just a quick tempo run while the boys were in swim class. I ran around Prospect Lake in Memorial Park twice.
I walked the last 2 minutes, and stopped the workout 2 minutes short because of time.
It was hot, hot, hot! I passed some walkers, going the opposite direction, 3 times. Quite friendly!
I put a band aid on my blister and I didn’t even notice it while running, so that’s good.
Layne and I went up to the Top of the Ws and back down today. And I got my first blister. At first, I thought I had some rocks in my shoe. So I took off my shoe and checked. No rocks.
Then when we got up to the Top of the Ws, I took off my shoe and socks. And found the blister. Yowch. I never had one before. Very odd.
I got to the top around 1:09 – which would put me on track for a 5:45 finish according to Matt Carpenter’s Pace Calculator.
I didn’t do any running at all, but I did hike briskly, and I did stop to check my shoe, so I think it is probably fairly accurate that I will be done sometime between 5:00 and 6:00. I hope. 
I just finished a workout. I ran down to Ace Hardware to exchange a dimmer switch and ran back home. Then I ran down Mesa Road to Uintah and back up the hill. THEN I did 4 repeats running down and up the hill next to my house. Whew!
Now if I could just lay off the damn pie… 
Oh, I am a bad, bad unhealthy person. I just ate 1/5 of a peach/raspberry pie after my breakfast. 
We have friends in town and had shindig last night, and that dessert was left behind. What’s a girl to do? There will be a repeat tonight. Except I think I shouldn’t drink as many Maidaritas… 
I need to fit in a short run today. I’m in the tapering period of my training, so it’s shorter workouts with the same intensity until the race. Just 13 short days away. I was just re-reading Matt Carpenter’s Training Guide for the Ascent/Marathon (while I ate pie – clearly there is something wrong with me
). I’m actually not scared of the race anymore, just anxious, and hopeful that I will be prepared on race day and not make dumb mistakes with my hydration/nutrition/pace during the race.
