I’m tired, cranky and unmotivated.
I’m looking at a half eaten slice of peach/raspberry pie, and thinking, “I’m tired.”
It’s been a long day.
The boys and I went for a walk at 9:30 AM with our friends in Monument Valley Park and fed the ducks.
Lunch at Wendy’s at 11:00 AM. Playdate at noon. Until 3:00 PM! Ice cream at Colorado City Creamery. Grocery shopping at King Soopers. By the end of the day, I was cranky and irritable. The boys were energetic and bugging me. Zander had been pulling his power struggles and control issues with me all day.
I ran a bubble bath for them to get them out of my hair for a little while. They dumped the whole container of the bubble bath we had just bought at King Soopers into their bath. UGH.
Somehow between trying to get them into their pjs before dinner, I fell asleep on Zevan’s toddler bed. Thankfully, Doug made them dinner. I woke up at 7:00 PM and heated up my leftover panino for dinner. My wonderful husband made me a nice salad to go with it.
And I’ve been alternately surfing and working through emails for the past two hours. My shoulder is aching me. It’s hot and humid in the office.
I’ve got to get my shit together for the morning. I need to pick up some computer parts at 8 AM, take the boys to Grandma & Grandpa’s for breakfast, pick up some store fixtures, meet with a potential client at 10:30 AM – all before lunch! I also need to get a form from Zander’s school for his pediatrician to fill out or he won’t be able to start school on Monday.
Sigh.
I guess I better get it together. And then go to bed.
Is this really my life? It’s kind of a let down after the whole running up a mountain thing.
Hi Maida,
Sorry to hear you are suffering from post race depression. It happens to a lot of people. I’ve never had a problem with it, but I don’t train as hard as you do. I’m more of an everyday runner, who occasionally signs up for a race. You have dedicated a big part of your life to getting ready for the Ascent, so it is only natural that you are feeling like something is missing now that it is over. Since you’ve been working so hard on distance, maybe you could sign up for a 5K. You’d be surprised what all that endurance training will do for your speed.
Good luck!
