You might wonder: were did all these blog entries come from?

January14

If you visit this site with any frequency, you might notice that one day, it looks like I haven’t posted in weeks, and the next day, all these posts suddenly appear, filling in the gaps. :hmmm:

Nearly all of my blog posts start out in the West Side Moms forums. Or my posts in other forums/bulletin boards. Or even in emails between friends/family.

When I get behind, I don’t get them entered in this blog consistently, and then I end up posting them all in one day (with timestamps from the original post).

So, mystery solved – for the 3 people who read my blog :giggle:

America Says NO more troops!
A Nationwide Surge of Protest Of The US Military Occupation of Iraq

President Bush is expected to reveal his “new strategy” for Iraq on or around Wednesday January 10th.

Defying the mandate of Americans who voted in November to end the madness and begin to bring our troops home, President Bush will call for an escalation in the number of US combat troops in Iraq.

Let’s deliver an immediate and direct response to the president’s call for escalation: NO!

Volunteers will host actions in cities and towns across the country within 24 hours of the president’s speech with a simple message: “America says NO more troops in Iraq!”

Calorie and exercise check – 01/10/07

January10

So, the day of my fast, I consumed 682 calories – including one slice of cheese that I ate AFTER midnight, when my fast was technically over.

Man, I was hungry ALL day. eat  When I drank the protein drink, around 5:30 PM, I was not hungry for a couple of hours after that.  But then I was hungry all night, which is why I ended my fast with a slice of american cheese after midnight.   uh

I ran on Tuesday morning, the 4/1 run/walk scheme.  I did it for 44 minutes and it was 3.64 miles.  I’m trying to stay in the fat-burning zone, instead of worrying about how fast and how far I am going.  Because of the walk breaks, I didn’t bonk during the run, so that was good.

I have been able to stay under my calories by eating a really small breakfast.  Usually a boiled egg plus a bowl of frosted flakes with milk.  Oh, and my NutraEarth supplement.

I’m debating whether I should weigh in daily or weekly.   I think weekly is probably better.

Exercise has been difficult for me to fit in.  I just have so much going on with work right now, which is the worst because it means I’m just sitting on my ass!  bummer  Because of my run yesterday, I logged 8671 steps yesterday.  Today it’s 6:21 PM and I only have 4060.   dunno

Finishing the fast

Meal 1
NutraEarth, 1 ounce Calories: 10

Meal 2
grapes, american type, 6 each Calories: 10

Meal 3
pears, fresh 1 each, Calories: 98
Orange, Clementine 1 each, Calories: 40
diet coke, regular, Diet Coke, 6 fluid ounce Calories: 0

Meal 4
grapes, american type, 20 each Calories: 32
carrots baby, fresh, 16 each Calories: 60

Meal 5
eggs, hard-boiled, 1 each Calories: 78
mangos, fresh, 0.25 each Calories: 34
Protein Juice Smoothie, Naked 8 ounce Calories: 250  (20 g of protein!)

Total Calories: 612

Right now I feel okay, but earlier today had definite blood sugar level grumpiness.  I’ll be glad for tomorrow.

I *must* run tomorrow!  I have not run at all since Dec 31.  Can you believe that?!  I will probably bring a gel with me tomorrow since I am sure to bonk early in the run.

Trying to get organized 2007

January8

I went grocery shopping with Zevan after we dropped off Zander, and then I cleared off my desk! That was no small feat. Wanna see?

Before: Messy Desk
Before: Clear Desk

We also took down the Christmas tree yesterday. The boys enjoyed helping take the decorations off and winding up the lights. We were going to take it to the zoo, but they got so many trees that they didn’t need anymore. So, Doug took it to TreeCycle instead.

Breaking things into smaller tasks works really well for me. I can actually feel like I accomplished something even if it’s just “Put laundry in the washer”

Goal: 8 in 8 – the fast

January8

My goal: Lose 8 lbs in 8 weeks.

So, I hopped on the scale today, and I’m down 1.6 lbs from about 10 days ago. So that’s good! I’m trying to do a steady 1 lb a week for 8 weeks, so I think I’m on track. We’ll see how my willpower and motivation hold up. I’ll probably have to fast at least one more time before the 8 weeks are up.

Candy and May are fasting along with me

So far today – 1 oz of NutraEarth (my liquid supplement), about 30 grapes, a pear, a clementine orange, half a diet coke can and a glass of water. Under 200 calories so far, but the day is young. I’ll save my protein drink and/or egg for dinner time.

It’s already tough for me. I’m hungry!

I thought about running this afternoon, but I’d probably bonk after a mile. So, I’ll do that tomorrow :wink2:

Yesterday, my huge Greek lunch with Megan helped me fortify for the fast. That night, I had a 1/4 piece of Doug’s quesadilla for my dinner. With the fast today, I’ll definitely be starting my week in a deficit.

On a parenting note, Zander went to school today with a small amount of resistance. Not too bad! I hope that he can stay engaged this semester.
